SecurImmo+ Non-Stick is a 2 mm micro-perforated thermoplastic that won't grab skin, hair, bandages or itself while you mould it. It turns transparent when heated so you can see the fit, and it has very good memory, drape, stretch and finishing.

Who it's for

Hand therapists and orthotists making custom rigid splints, orthoses and adaptive equipment, especially circumferential and paediatric work where a sticky material is a nuisance. Five bright colours suit children's splints.

Working with it

Because the coating stops it bonding to itself, permanent joins need the coating removed: scrape the area, spot-heat with a heat gun, and press firmly. Manual bonding is possible.

SecurLite Grip Strength Guide

SecurPlast is the low-temperature thermoplastic Australian hand therapists reach for when a splint has to hold its shape. It softens in a water bath at about 65 °C, drapes and moulds easily, then sets rigid and strong with excellent memory. It resists unwanted stretch while you work, so it forgives a slow mould, and it stays latex free for skin-friendly, long-term wear.

Who it's for

Adult and paediatric static and dynamic splinting; post-burn and post-surgical positioning; any pattern you'd normally cut from a 46 × 61 cm sheet. Clinics buy it in multiples because one sheet yields several hand-based splints.

Choosing a thickness

• 1.6 mm — finger and thumb splints, paediatric work, anything where low profile and light weight matter.
• 2.4 mm — the all-rounder for wrist and hand-based splints; strong enough for most adult forearm-based designs.
• 3.2 mm — elbow, forearm and load-bearing splints, and larger patients.

Solid or perforated?

Perforated sheets breathe, weigh less and suit long wear times and warm climates. Solid sheets give the strongest, smoothest splint and are easier to trim cleanly at the edges.

Colours

Black, Metallic Blue, Light Blue and White. Colour doesn't change the material; many therapists keep black and blue for adults and white for paediatrics.

Choosing a resistance

SecurStretch is loop tape with give in it. Where a non-stretch strap would dig in as a limb swells or moves, elastic loop keeps an even tension, so it is the strap for securing splints and equipment that must stay comfortable through the day. Moderate resistance to stretch; mates with almost any hook. We redesigned it recently: better quality, lower price.

SecurTrac Ortho Bed Traction System

The SecurTrac Ortho Bed Traction System is a static traction device, allowing a specific applied traction force for the neck, lumbar or leg areas.

The SecurTrac comes in at under 6kg, folds and is easy to store. Applicable to beds with either 25mm or 32mm post hole. Custom post hole sizes available on request. Set up within minutes. Accessories

Our water weight bag has a safe working limit (SWL) of 20lbs (9.09kg); the overall weight on the traction system should not exceed 40lbs (18.18kg).

The traction cord we have available is rated with a high tensile strength many times in excess of the SWL of the weight bag. This is available as a separate product or a 3m length with purchase of a Bucks Traction Boot.

Please refer to your physician for the prescribed weight application to suit the specific purpose.

Sizing: How To Measure Hips

• Place your hands on the sides of your hips and move your legs.
• You will find the tops of your leg bones, called trochanters, move under your hands.
• Gently dig into your leg with your fingers and find the tops of your trochanters.
• On front of your pelvis, on each side, you will find a bony point called Anterior Superior Iliac Spine (ASIS) just below your waist.
• Measure two inches about the tops of your trochanters, just below the ASISs.

Sock Aid Easy Pull 

Flexible plastic makes putting sock or stockings on trough easily. Large loop handles at the end of strong 32" straps are great for arthritis sufferers. Nylon lining allows foot to slide easily through the trough. Terry cloth outer covering keeps socks and stockings secure and can be bent to fit any size socks or stockings.

Universal size 

A soft, padded extension splint for a stiff PIP joint, with plastic-coated wires you can bend to the finger. The Rolyan Sof-Stretch pushes the middle joint towards straight while leaving the knuckle almost free, and the angled distal pad keeps full contact so pressure is spread rather than concentrated. Bend the wires to suit finger size or a change in swelling.

Who it's for

PIP joint tightness, flexion contractures and boutonnière deformity, in the hands of a hand therapist. Patients find it the most comfortable of the extension splints, which helps with wearing time. The "P" on the proximal pad reminds them which end goes towards the palm.

Getting the size right

With the finger straight, measure the matching finger on the unaffected hand from the distal palmar crease to the crease at the fingertip joint.
