A spring-loaded finger splint that gently pulls a stiff PIP joint back towards straight. The LMB L501 applies about 227 g (8 oz) of extension force when the joint is at 15 degrees of flexion, spread evenly by a contoured centre pad. It is indicated where the PIP joint is short of full extension by 45 degrees or less.
Who it's for
Hand therapists treating PIP joint tightness after fracture, tendon repair, Dupuytren's release or a boutonnière injury. The two side wires bend, so the force can be adjusted and the splint eased as swelling changes.
Getting the size right
With the finger straight, measure from the distal palmar crease to the crease at the fingertip joint, then match the length below.
