Headmaster Collar

The Headmaster Collar holds the head up without wrapping the neck in foam. An open wire frame with a padded chin rest gives firm support with almost nothing against the throat, so the wearer stays cool, breathes and swallows more easily, and the collar is easy to keep clean. Latex-free; black.

Who it's for

People with neck-muscle weakness from motor neurone disease, Parkinson's, muscular dystrophy or after injury, where a soft collar is too hot and a rigid one too much. Widely used in neurology and palliative care.

Fitting

The collar should sit snugly under the chin, with the strap around the back of the neck only.

Getting the size right

Measure the shortest distance under the jaw from the centre of the chin to the angle of the jaw (see the image).
