Bandages & Tubular Retention

Tubon is a pure cotton tubular gauze that holds a dressing or lines a cast without compressing anything. The open knit lets air through and cotton draws sweat away from the skin, so it is comfortable under plaster, splints and pressure bandages for days at a time. Australian made, in eight sizes from fingers to torso.

Who it's for

• Casting: the first layer on the limb, under cast padding and plaster or fibreglass.
• Oedema control: the base layer under pressure bandaging.
• Splints and orthoses: a washable liner between skin and thermoplastic.
• Wound care and dermatology: over dressings and wet wraps, to keep ointments off clothes and bedding.

Choosing a size

Sizes 0 to 2 for fingers and toes; 3 and 4 for hands, wrists and children's limbs; 5 and 6 for arms and lower legs; 7 and 8 for thighs and torso.

Choosing a size

Measure the circumference of the limb at its widest point and pick the width that gives a firm stretch, not a tight one. Roughly: AA and A for fingers and small wrists; B to D for wrists, hands and children's limbs; E to G for forearms, ankles and calves; H to J for knees and thighs; K to M for large thighs and trunk.
